Short answer
Warranty coverage and duration depend on the exact product installed. Confirm the written terms, exclusions, maintenance requirements, registration and any separate workmanship coverage before approving the work. Follow the selected product's care instructions. Coatings and films still need washing, inspection and maintenance; any professional maintenance or removal work is quoted separately.
Warranty terms are not a lifespan guarantee

A coating's performance depends on its formulation, preparation, application and care. Ask for the exact product information and written terms rather than assuming a hardness number or advertised duration guarantees real-world results.
What actually determines longevity
1. Prep depth. Coating chemistry needs a chemically clean, level bonding surface. That means: wash, iron decon, clay bar, paint correction to remove existing defects, IPA panel wipe to remove polishing oils. Skip any step and the coating bonds to contamination instead of paint.
2. Correction level. Coating locks in whatever’s underneath. If you coat over swirl and haze, you’re preserving swirl and haze for the life of the coating.
3. Environment. San Antonio sun is brutal on coating chemistry. UV, heat cycling, and high humidity all shorten coating life. Garage-parked cars run 30–50% longer than driveway-parked cars.
4. Wash care. The single biggest failure mode. Touchless car washes with harsh acid pre-soaks strip coating in a hundred washes or less. Rinseless or two-bucket handwash extends life by years.
5. Reapplication of maintenance products. Quarterly application of the manufacturer’s spray sealant refreshes the hydrophobic top layer without touching the base coating. Skip it and the coating “dies” earlier — even though the base is still there.
What good longevity looks like
You know a coating is still working when: water beads and sheets off in tight, tall droplets during rain or wash. Dirt and dust brush off with a rinse. Bugs and bird droppings don’t stain if removed within a few days. The paint feels slick to the touch. Iron and rail dust removal is easier than uncoated paint.
You know it’s failing when: water sheeting flattens (no beading). Water spots start to lock in after rain. The paint feels rough. Wash time doubles because contamination is bonding to the surface again.
What we do to maximize coating life
Your written coating quote identifies the exact product, preparation, treated surfaces, care instructions and applicable warranty terms. Confirm any included maintenance products or follow-up visits rather than assuming they are part of every installation.
